The thallus is grey, whitish or pale yellowish-brown with elongate, curved or stellate apothecia with narrow thalline margins. Discs are widely open and covered with grey or white pruina. Asci 8-spored, spores 7-12(-14) septate, 15-56 × 5-12 µm and constricted at the septa. Lumina usually lentiform (lens-shaped). Micrograph below.

One of the two most common of four species recently separated from Graphis scripta s. lat. It appears to be most frequent in nutrient enriched lowland areas, where it is often found with Graphis scripta s. str.
