Species: Verrucaria praetermissa Q Photos: On rock in upland stream. Ballingeary, Co. Cork, SW Ireland Thallus smooth, pale greenish-grey to a dull pale brown, usually (but not always) with numerous cracks when well-developed. Perithecia immersed (or very occasionally forming low projections), the apex a brown or pinkish dot. Spores (16-)18-25(-28) × (6.5-)7-10.5 µm. Prothallus whitish. Micrographs below. An aquatic species with a scattered distribution in Ireland. Occurs on periodically submerged acidic and calcareous rocks by lakes and rivers. Tolerates shaded situations.
