Species: Trapelia glebulosa s. lat. Photos: On upland rock. Ballingeary area. Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Thallus scattered or +/- continuous, the small glossy, whitish, grey or pink-tinged areoles forming clumps or an overlapping crust. Prothallus inconspicuous. Apothecia frequent, the reddish-pink to brownish discs with thin white margins. Asci 8-spored, the spores simple, 17-24.5 x 8.5-10.5 µm. Usually found on nutrient-enriched, upland siliceous rocks. Occasional on worked timber and among rocks on coastal peaty turf. Thallus: C+ red Similar: Trapelia involuta, T. coarctata and T. placodioides |
