Species: Lecanora hybocarpa Photos: On deciduous tree trunk. Macroom, Cork, SW Ireland. The whitish-grey thallus is smooth, slightly warted or granulose with scattered or aggregated pale pinkish-brown, slightly pruinose apothecia. There are large crystals in the thaline margin and coarse brown granules extend below epithcium into upper part of hymenium below tops of the asci. Chemical results: Thallus and apothecia margins K+ yellow. Margins Pd- Probably widespread on deciduous trees but previously overlooked and recorded as Lecanora chlarotera Similar: Lecanora sinuosa |
