Species: Lecanora hybocarpa Photos: Macroom and Rathmore, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. The whitish-grey thallus is smooth, slightly warted or granulose with scattered or aggregated pale pinkish-brown, slightly pruinose apothecia. There are large crystals in the thalline margin and coarse brown granules extend below epithcium into upper part of hymenium below tops of the asci. Micro photograph below. Chemical results: Thallus and apothecia margins K+ yellow. Margins Pd- Widespread on deciduous trees but previously overlooked and recorded as Lecanora chlarotera Similar: Lecanora sinuosa |
