Lichenicolous basiomycete on Xanthoria parietina.
Photos: Carrons, Co. Limerick, Ireland. First Irish record

Small, often clustered, pinkish to pale orange-brown gall-like basidiomata that become darker with age. Basidia are subspherical to ellipsoid, 4-celled with longitudinal septa, 8.5-11.5 x 8-10.5 µm and produce sessile conidia instead of basidiospores. Conidia are simple, colourless, 4.5-5.5 x (3.5-)4-4.5 µm, the base truncate and often with a hyaline basal appendage, 3.5-6 x 1.5-4 µm

First recorded from Belgium in 2022. Easily missed as only on lower surface of corticolous and saxicolous Xanthoria parietina lobes
