Lichenicolous, underneath a lobe of Xanthoria parietina
Kilcolman, Co. Limerick, Ireland. New to Britain and Ireland. Photographs and micrographs identified by Valerii Darmostuk, confirmed by Brian Coppins

Black pycnidia (immersed but becoming erumpent) form on blackish-brown gall-like structures on the host thallus. Conidiophores absent, conidia 1-septate, hyaline becoming brownish, (8-)9-12 x 2.5-3 µm. Micrographs showing conidia below.

Occurs on the thallii of Xanthoria parietina. At present (2024) only otherwise known from Australia

Similar: Tremella occultixanthoriae, a lichenicolous basidiomycete forming pinkish galls under Xanthoria lobes, conidia simple
