The black pycnidia can be solitary or occuring in groups of 2-3. Conidia ellipsoid or ovoid with truncate bases, 3.5-6 x 2.5-3.5 µm, simple, smooth-walled and pale brown, but appearing darker when massed together. Micrographs of conidia below.

Occurs on the thallii or apothecial warts of Pertusaria species. Most often recorded on Pertusaria leioplaca but can also be found on P. hymenea and P. pertusa.

Similar: Lichenodiplis lecanorae can also occur on Pertusaria species but its conidia are 1-septate
