Growth type fruticose
Photos: Among moss on acidic rock. Inchigeela, Cork, SW Ireland.

Smooth, solid branches to 4cm. Pale greyish-green with whiter lower surface. Main branches are +/- flattened with short flat branchlets. Rarely fertile, apothecia on lower surface of branchlets.

Sheltered sites, mainly in west of Ireland. Usually found among moss on siliceous rocks or in acidic woodland.
Medulla: K+ yellow, P+ orange, I-

Similar: Sphaerophorus fragilis and Sphaerophorus globosus
