Most frequent as the anamorph, forming black, +/- immersed pycnidia with hyaline, obpyriform conidia, 3-5(-6) x 2-3.5(-4) µm. Micrographs of conidia below. The teleomorph is infrequent, immersed becoming superficial, blackish-brown and initially with a greenish pruina. Spores brown, (1-)3 septate, 14-17(-20) x 5-7 µm.

Lichenicolous on the thalli and apothecia of Ramalina species

Similar: Abrothallus parmotrematis occurs on Parmotrema spp. and Abrothallus welwitschii on Sticta
