Thallus white, greyish or pale brown rarely smooth and often deeply cracked, the apothecia curved, wavy or branched and with acute ends. Discs partly open, not or rarely pruinose, and surrounded by a conspicuous thick white thallus margin. Asci 6-8 spored, the spores 5-11 septate, not constricted at septa, 15-45 x 5-9 µm, lumina mostly lentiform. Micrographs below. Chemistry negative

One of four species recently separated from Graphis scripta s. lat. Probably widespread but less common than Graphis scripta s. str and thought to occur in older, more established woodlands
