Family: Abrothallaceae
Species: Lichenoconium erodens Photos: Killarney NP, Co. Kerry, SW Ireland. The minute black pycnidia are (20-)30-50(-60) µm diameter and immersed or +/- superficial on the host and open by an irregular pore. Conidia brown or dark brown, 2-3.5(-4) µm, subglobose and not markedly truncated at base. Micrographs below. Usually parasitic on Parmeliaceae, including Evernia, Flavoparmelia, Hypogymnia, Hypotrachyna and Parmotrema. Also recorded on lichen thalli damaged or killed by another lichenicolous fungus N.B.
