Dark pycnidia usually occurring in the host apothecia. The pale greenish conidia are 1-septate, 4-7.5 x 2-3 µm. Microscope photograph below.

Widespread but under-recorded on the apothecia and less frequently the thalli of Lecanora, Caloplaca and Pertusaria species.

Similar: Lichenodiplis lecanoricola, on Lecanora, simple conidia. Lichenodiplis pertusariicola has simple conidia and is only found on Pertusaria species. L. opegraphae, on Opegrapha species
