Species: Pertusaria excludens Photos: On rock. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland. K+ yellow going orange. Identification very uncertain, needs confirming or correcting. Thick, cracked and warted, whitish-grey thallus with pale or zoned prothallus. Abundant coarse soralia arising from warts, usually paler than thallus, sometimes yellow-tinged. Apothecia are absent. Mainly coastal on well-lit siliceous rocks, especially granite. Soralia: K+ yellow going red, C-, KC+ yellow-red, P+ yellow-orange, UV+ pale grey or yellow-grey Similar: Pertusaria aspergilla. K+/- brownish-red |
