Species: Jamesiella anastomosans Photos: Among liverwort on tree trunk. Gougane Barra, Cork, SW Ireland. Identified by John Douglass Thin filmy, pale greyish thallus often with white or pale grey prothallus. Thin pale grey or green hyphores visible with hand lens. Frequent orange-red or dark brown apothecia becoming pale and translucent when wet. Trebouxioid photobiont. Occurs on smooth shaded bark in sheltered woodland. Also on timber and over moss on boulders. Chemical reactions negative. Similar: Porina coralloidea. Dark-grey thallus with pointed isidia. |
