Species: Acrocordia salweyi Photos: On limestone. Black Head, the Burren, Ireland. BLS meeting April 2009 Smooth or granular, thin, immersed, whitish to pale brown-grey thallus. The large, +/- flat-topped perithecia with a thick involucrellum are one quarter to half immersed. Spores 1-septate, 20-35 x 10-15 µm. Chemical reactions negative. Occurs on soft, damp calcareous rocks and old mortar. Similar: A. conoidea. Thallus pinkish. Found on hard limestone. |
