Species: Nephroma parile Photos: Among moss on hazel. Cathair Chomáin, Burren, Ireland Lobes grey to reddish-brown, undersides without veins or rhizines, sometimes slightly tomentose. Brownish to blue-grey soredia on margins, can extend to the upper lobe surfaces. Apothecia are usually absent. Medulla white, usually K-, rarely K+ yellow Occurs in old woodland and sheltered upland valleys on mossy trees. Mainly found in western and northern Ireland. Similar: Nephroma laevigatum. Usually fertile, soredia absent. Peltigera collina. Lower surface with rhizines. |
