Order: Lecanorales       Family: Physciaceae Species: Physcia stellaris Growth type foliose. Photos: On Salix. The Gearagh, Macroom, Co. Cork Pale whitish-grey thallus, lobes without pseudocyphellae (but older parts of thallus may have very indistinct pseudocyphellae). Apothecia chestnut-brown to dark-brown. Small lobules sometimes present on lobes and apothecia margins. The asci are 8-spored, spores brown, 1-septate, 15-22 x 7-11 µm. Micrograph below.
