Species: Cladonia portentosa Photos: On wet heath near bog. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland. Variable. Primary squamules absent. Very branched, whitish to green-grey and forming loose compact tufts. Axils often perforate. Branching mainly trichotomous, can be dichotomous at ends. Branchlet tips spreading in all directions. Common and widespread on heaths, peaty moorland and among dunes. K-, KC+ yellow, P- Similar: Cladonia ciliata and Cladonia arbuscula |
