Species: Cladonia ciliata var. ciliata Photos: On upland rock. Ballingeary area, Cork, Ireland. Podetia smooth, greyish-white, green colouring absent. Richly branched with shorter lateral branches that are purplish-brown towards the tips. Branch tips are down-turned, distinctly orientated in one direction, axils rarely perforated. Brown apothecia are rare and inconspicuous. Pycnidial jelly red. Found on moors, heaths, acidic dunes. K-, C-, KC-, P+ red, UV- Very similar to Cladonia ciliata var. tenuis but less frequent.
