Species: Psammina filamentosa In thallus of Bryostigma lapidicola (Arthonia muscigena), Commeen West, Co. Cork, SW Ireland Dispersed brownish-black colonies, mycelium of brown, branched hyphae (2.5-3.5 µm wide) immersed in host tissue. Conidia 120-160 µm diam with c.70-100 arms, the arms 50-80(-100) x 2.5-4 µm and 6-8 septate. (Septation harder to see in immature specimens). A pathogenic algicolous and lichenicolous species occuring among crusts of green algae and in lichens Similar: Psammina simplex, arms 0-2 septate, 15-25 x 2-3.5 µm |
