Can be very variable. Thin whitish, grey or grey-brown thallus, the lirellae usually simple. Disc exposed or narrow becoming +/- fully open, margins and discs often with green or grey pruina (K+ yellow). Spores 4-6 septate, brown with age, (18-)20-37 x (5-)6-9 µm, the middle cells often enlarged. Micrograph below. Chemistry negative

Widespread on shaded trees with rough, neutral to basic bark

Similar: Alyxoria viridipruinosa (O, viridipruinosa) and Alyxoria culmigena (O. herbarum), occasionally pruinose, spores 3-septate
