Lichenicolous fungus on Physcia tenella

Pinkish-brown to black galls form on the host thallus, becoming brownish when mature. Each gall contains multiple immersed perithecia, the asci 8-spored, spores 0-1 septate, broadly ellipsoid, 11.5-13 x 8-9 µm. Pycnidia unknown. Micrographs below.

Causes galls on the thallus of Physcia tenella and also recorded from P. adscendens

Similar: Lichenochora galligena on Physcia adscendens has smaller spores. L. aipoliae is parasitic on Physcia aipolia
