Thallus forms thick areolate, yellowish-grey, non-pruinose +/- eroded patches. Apothecia to 0.7mm with pruinose orange-brown discs, the yellow-white margins sometimes excluded. The spores are 1-septate, 11-13(-16) x 4-7 µm. Microscope photograph below.
Chemical reactions negative.

Mainly coastal on base-rich rocks, limestone etc

Similar: L. turicensis. Thallus whitish-grey with crowded apothecia
