Species: Menegazzia subsimilis Photos: On Oak. Glengarriff woods, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Identified by John Douglass Similar to Menegazzia terebrata but lobe-ends have ascending lip shaped soralia with branched extensions, perforate when mature. Apothecia are very rare, margins +/- sorediate. Cortex K+ yellow. Medulla K+ yellow, C-, KC-, P+ yellow-orange, UV- Rare, occurs on broad-leaved trees and shaded mossy rocks in humid, established woodlands. Similar: Menegazzia terebrata |
