Species: Parmeliella parvula Photos: Killarney National Park, Co. Kerry, SW Ireland. Identified by John Douglass Variable. Small bluish-grey or olive-fawn, flat or crenulate squamules, 1-2mm long. Scattered or forming small patches or a +/- continuous crust. Marginal, coarsely granular, bluish isidia can spread to cover thallus. Apothecia very rare, reddish-brown with paler margins. Found on mossy rocks and deciduous trees in sheltered, moist, western woodlands. Chemical reactions absent. Similar: Fuscopannaria mediterranea. Rare. Blue-mauve soralia. |
