Candelariella xanthostigmoides

Growth type crustose.

Small yellow or yellowish-green granules or minute squamules that are scattered or +/- contiguous. Bright yellow soredia that can form continuous crust. Apothecia very rare, with simple spores.
Chemical reactions: K- (Caloplaca species are K+ red)

Occurs on nutrient-enriched tree trunks and branches and at tree bases in 'canine zone'.

Similar: C. vitellina, soredia absent. Caloplaca citrina, K+ crimson
