Species: Micarea lignaria var. lignaria Photos: Ballingeary, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Identification confirmed by John Douglass Thallus of whitish, pale grey or grey-green granules, usually with abundant globose blackish apothecia. Pycnidia +/- immersed. Common throughout Ireland on acidic substrates. Often found on moss or plant debris, also on peat, timber, shaded rocks and walls. Thallus: K-, C-, KC-, P+ red.
