Species: Peltigera canina Photos: On mossy rock. Black Head, the Burren, Ireland. BLS Burren meeting 2009 Grey or grey-brownish thallus, lobes to 2.5cm wide, +/- white tomentose. Whitish underneath with flattened veins and woolly, branched rhizines. Saddle-shaped chestnut-brown apothecia. Rare, usually occurs on sandy, +/- basic soils and among dunes. Chemical reactions negative. Similar: P. membranacea. Common, less calcareous habitats. |
