Cushion-forming with irregularly branched light-grey pseudopodetia (stems). Many flattened phyllocladia, deeply divided into +/- cylindrical extensions, often overlapping and +/- hiding the pseudopodetia. Large terminal apothecia are rare or absent.

Found in upland regions on moss and siliceous rocks.
K+ yellow, KC+ violet (use filter paper), P+ faint yellow, UV+ white
