Basal squamules entire or with shallow, rounded lobes, white below, upper surfaces bluish-grey when fresh. Podetia with regular scyphi, +/- abruptly tapered to stalk with 2-5 proliferating tiers from centre of scyphus. Thallus C-, K-, KC-, Pd+ red, UV-

Widespread but most frequent on dry moorland in western Ireland. (Previously known as Cladonia cervicornis subsp. verticillata)

Similar: Cladonia cervicornis can also have multiple tiers of podetia
