Species: Stenocybe pullatula Photos: On Alder twig. Ballingeary, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. A 'pin-head' lichen with slender black apothecia, the stalks usually unbranched. Asci are narrowly cylindrical, spores pale brown, simple becoming 1-3 septate, (10-)13-18(-20) x 4-5(-6) µm. Paraphyses are absent. Chemical reactions negative. Only found on Alder twigs, usually near streams in unpolluted areas. Similar: Stenocybe septata. Mainly found on Holly |
