Provisional identification by Andy Acton, needs microscopic confirmation Inconspicuous dull green-brown, granular thallus with scattered puntiform soralia. Soralia pale buff to pale greenish-buff with farinose soredia. Apothecia are very rare, pinkish-brown, sessile. Thallus K-, C+ red, KC+ red, P-, UV+ whitish. Usually on Oak and Alder in damp, sheltered woodlands, also found on other acid-barked trees. Rarely found on wood. Similar: Rinodina efflorescens. Soralia C-, P+ red |
