Species: Polychidium dendriscum Photos: Glengarriff woods, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Cushion-forming minute, interwoven blue-green, blue-grey or brownish filaments, greyer when dry. Filaments smooth or +/- nodulose with single-layered cortex. Photobiont Scytonema. Pycnidia occasional, apothecia are unknown in Britain and Ireland. Occurs among moss and liverworts on shaded tree trunks in undisturbed boggy woodlands. Rare, mainly SW Ireland. Similar: Polychidium muscicola |
