Species: Trapeliopsis granulosa Photos: On Ash. Maughnasilly, Kealkil, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Thallus forms small or larger, spreading patches of whitish, pale-grey or greenish-grey crowded granules or warted areoles. Large granular soralia are usually present, whitish or creamy-yellow. Apothecia are frequent, discs variable in colour, pale pink to red-brown, greenish or piedbald. Spores usually simple (a few becoming 1-septate), 9-14 x 4-6 µm. Pioneer species on burnt heathland. Also on acidic moorland soils, decaying mosses and tree stumps. Rare on shaded acidic rocks. Thallus K-, C+ red, KC+ red, P-, UV+ whitish Similar: Trapeliopsis flexuosa, smaller ascospores.
