Thin bluish-grey thallus, usually with a darker blue-grey prothallus. Numerous whitish to pale bluish-grey soralia with deeper blue flecks, discrete but can become confluent. Apothecia and pycnidia are unknown. Chemical reactions negative, UV+ white.

Found on rough or smooth acidic bark in old, established woodlands, occasional on shaded siliceous rocks.
