Species: Lecanora saligna Photos: On wooden rail. Ballingeary, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Thallus yellow-grey to greyish of dispersed or +/- contiguous granules, prothallus indistinct or absent. Small apothecia with pale or dark reddish-brown discs to 0.8mm, sometimes thinly pruinose. Margins entire to crenulate, usually persistent but sometimes becoming inconspicuous. Frequent red-brown to black pycnidia. Scattered distribution in Ireland but can be relatively frequent on well-lit worked timber and weathered wood. Chemical reactions negative. |
