Species: Parmelina tiliacea Photos: On Lime. Bandon, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Thallus of +/- loosely attached grey or bluish-greyish lobes. Upper surface faintly maculate, lobe margins +/- rounded and irregularly indented. Lower surface black, light brown at margins, rhizines simple. Pale brown to greyish-brown isidia arise in the centre of the thallus and spread, forming a dense crust. Apothecia very rare. Occurs on sunny, +/- nutrient-rich bark, rocks, roof tiles and asphalt paths. Occasional in S and SE Ireland. Cortex K+ yellow. Medulla K-, C+ carmine-red, KC+ red, P-, UV- Similar: Parmelina pastillifera has blue-black isidia |
