Species: Cladonia humilis Photos: On sandy waste ground. Bantry, Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Large, +/- rounded basal squamules, +/- incised, often forming continuous carpet. Podetia grey or green-grey, cups subsessile or abruptly tapered to short stalk, not proliferating from rims. Persistently corticate at base, densely farinose-sorediate above and within cup. Apothecia and pycnidia brown, rare. Occurs on dry, sandy, recently disturbed ground, on coastal roadsides and dunes and in gardens. Not found in mountainous areas. K+/- yellow, C-, KC-, P+ red, UV- |
