Species: Micarea coppinsii Photos: On rock. Gougane Barra, Cork, SW Ireland. Identified by John Douglass Thallus forms small patches of grey-green or grey-brown areoles with apical green soralia. Green soredia, sometimes flecked bluish-grey. Prothallus is not evident. Apothecia are very rare, pale to blue-grey. Pycnidia occasional. Found on acidic substrates, mossy tree trunks, twigs of trees, shrubs, gorse and heather, siliceous rocks and gravestones. K-, C+ faint reddish, KC+ red, P-, UV- |
