Species: Cladonia furcata Photos: On moss on upland rock. Co. Cork, SW Ireland. Identified by John Douglass Basal squamules usually not persisting. Very variable. Loose mat of olive-green to brownish-grey smooth podetia with pale reticulation. Podetia sometimes tinged purplish. Dichotomously branched with compact tips. Cups are absent, brown apothecia are rare. Found on acid heathlands, rocky outcrops and on woodland soil. Chemistry variable, K- or K+ yellow, P+ rust red |
