Species: Lepraria lobificans Photos: On moss on Ash. Glengarriff, Cork, SW Ireland. Left: identified by John Douglass Leprose thallus of soft, spongy, pale green, bluish-white or blue-grey granules with indistinct marginal lobes. Granules often erode with age. Abundant free hyphae (bottom photograph) in thallus forming +/- distinct white medulla. Sterile. Sheltered, usually vertical man-made and natural habitats. Also found on trees with less acidic bark, e.g Ash, Sycamore. K- or K+ faint yellow, C-, P+ orange, UV- |
