Species: Cladonia ramulosa Photos: On wet, acidic heath. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland. Specimens confirmed by John Douglass Small incised basal squamules followed by erect podetia with peeling squamules which leave decorticate areas. Distinctive large brown apothecia becoming transluscent when wet. Very variable. Found on acidic soils on inland and coastal heathlands and on rotting tree stumps, fence posts, earth banks and on thetop of walls. K-, P+ red Sometimes host to Arthrorhaphis aeruginosa |
