Species: Diploicia canescens Photos: Ballyrisode beach, Co.Cork and Foynes, Co.Limerick, Ireland. White or very pale bluish-grey thallus covered with patches of yellowish soralia. Convex marginal lobes widening towards the apices, white-pruinose, thallus centre eroding with age. Apothecia with black discs are rare inland but can be more frequent in coastal areas. Spores brown, 1-septate, 10-15 x 5-8 µm. K+ yellow, C-, KC+ yellow, P-, UV- or UV+ orange Basic and nutrient-rich walls, rocks, headstones and trees. Similar: Solenopsora candicans. Soredia absent |
