Species: Physcia leptalea Photos: Ballyrisode, Co. Cork and Foynes, Co. Limerick Light-grey thallus with long, narrow lobes, pseudocyphellate and with prominent cilia. White undersurface with some scattered rhizines. Usually very fertile, dark apothecia with thick, swollen margins, discs often +/- pruinose. Soredia absent. Often coastal, also found inland in Ireland on well-lit basic-barked and nutrient-rich twigs and branches. Cortex: K+ yellow Similar: Physcia tenella and P. adscendens are sorediate |
