Species: Nephroma parile Photos: Among moss on hazel. Cathair Chomáin, Burren, Ireland BLS Burren meeting 2009 Lobes grey to reddish-brown, undersides without veins or rhizines, sometimes slightly tomentose. Brownish to blue-grey soredia on margins, can extend to the upper lobe surfaces. Apothecia are usually absent. Medulla white. Occurs in old woodland and sheltered upland valleys on mossy trees. Mainly found in western and northern Ireland. Medulla usually K-, rarely K+ yellow Similar: Nephroma laevigatum. Usually fertile, soredia absent. Peltigera collina. Lower surface with rhizines. |
