Species: Pannaria conoplea Photos: On mature Oak. Bantry House and Glengarrif woods, Cork, SW Ireland. Specimens confirmed by Mike Simms and John Douglass Blue-grey or yellowish-grey thallus with greyish-black, tomentose, under-surface. Lobes incised, adpressed, often pruinose. Coarse isidia, can spread forming complete crust. Rarely fertile. 'Old forest' indicator species found on sheltered mossy trees in undisturbed woodland. P+ orange-red Similar: P. rubiginosa. Usually fertile, discs reddish-brown. |
