Species: Ramalina fraxinea Photos: On trunk and branches of ornamental Acer in carpark. Macroom, Cork, SW Ireland. Loose, +/- pendant thallus developing broad, wrinkled lobes to 4cm wide. Apothecia laminal, marginal and apical, often on short-stalks. Can be locally frequent on basic-barked trees, e.g Sycamore, Ash, Poplar. Sensitive to SO2 pollution and nutrient-enrichment. Chemical reactions negative. |
